Yesterday was a good day and look who came back to the campground for a visit . These two Moose are a year old now and look great too. It was a joy to see them once again and to see that they made it though there first winter . Also there was reports that there mother was in the campground the other evening with her new twin claves . That will be nice to see her too. The first picture is one of the twins playing in the lake . Also they are Bulls (boys) . You may not be able to see the horns but they are there about three inches long .
So come on out to the campground and you may be able to see them too. The weather is warming up . I have about ten sites open as of last night out of 68 sites so there is still a lot of room for you to come out and enjoy life's wonders and beauty . The fishing is great right now too.
My sister and her husband are here for a visit and got to see the twins too .

I took these yesterday morning at about 5:15 am . Every 10 minutes it changed to a beautiful picture. So enjoy them .
All of these where taken from the boat launch area. So come on out and you can see some of these beautiful pictures too. The weather is warming up now too. This morning it was 45 out and should get up in the 70's today .
From the way it looks out my window the sun rise will be just as beautiful this morning as it was yesterday .

WINTER WONDERLAND IN JUNE!
The above picture is at 5 am this morning out the window! Guess what we woke up to and yes, I had my awning put up as they forecasted 6 to 10 inches over the next few days at this elevation 6300 so come on out!! Why should we have all the fun by ourselves!
This a worm trying to figure out what happened to the warm ground? I tried to throw as many in a hole as I could find to give them a fighting chance at survival! The Robins were happy with easy pickings.
Ducks on the lake were pretty quiet this morning wondering where summer went?
The big spots are snow flakes! Also when the trees drop their load it sounds like thunder on the roof of the trailer.
Vicky thought this was an ironic picture. Her pretty June summer flag surrounded by two inches of snow. Winter Wonderland. She actually will get to experience 4 seasons while here! Bonus!!!
The water pump in A Loop made a pretty picture in the snow.
Vicky says "Hi" to her kids in Indiana, Texas, and Las Vegas who are all sweltering under humidity and hot temperatures! Too funny!
We took a walk and this is from site C44 looking towards the exit of the campground. Walking in a Winter Wonderland. Yes, Vicky was playing Christmas songs this morning.

A Couple of Old West Characters
I wonder what kind of a love story could be written about this 1864 Virginia City, Montana couple?
The kindly Sheriff made his fortune panning for gold in the 1864 Alder Gulch Gold Strike. Of course, there is always a designing woman wanting to help him spend his hard-earned money!

Wayne (Red) woke up last Tuesday wanting to make a road trip and I knew exactly where I wanted to head to: Virginia City and Nevada City, MT, about 100 miles one way.. As we walked by the Montana Picture Gallery the owner, Stacey Gordon, was hoping Red would come in . . she already knew how she wanted to dress him! She also got signed permission from him to post his picture in her window! Hope ya'll see him there!
This is the Montana Picture Gallery right on the main street of Virginia City. They have an amazing collection of clothing. Stacey, the owner, was in the Nevada City Players for many years! Be sure to tell her Wayne "Red" May sent you!
Virginia City was the site of the 1864 Alder Creek Gold Strike in Montana. According to the internet "where to find gold today in Montana" they are still pulling gold and garnets out of the creek there. We did not pan for gold . . hopefully next visit! This is a neat town and it was preserved by a Montana Senator and his wife who began buying these buildings in the 1940's and lovingly preserving them. They were also responsible for disassembling and moving several historic buildings around Montana and building the "ghost town" of Nevada City. We are hoping to go over on a Saturday or Sunday when they have "living history" weekends there with costumed characters and reenactments of hangings, etc. that actually took place there. Fires the imagination!!
This is a little preview of Nevada City. Can't wait to go back on a Living history weekend. The State of Montana has purchased Nevada City and Virginia City properties and now supports them and preserves them for future generations.
The Post Office at Virginia City, Montana. They also had a candy shop with good licorice and fudge!
This is looking east from Virginia City towards Nevada City. It is beautiful hilly country with mountains in the background! Can't wait to go back!

This is a neat picture taken at Piney Campground when we were cutting up wood with Lon and Jan (Piney camphosts) and Chuck (concessionaire) The moose in the background directly above Wayne's cap was not bothered by all the chainsaw noise! It seems like our first couple of weeks are spent logging.
The Forest Service came in this last week and dropped a lot of trees along the road. They have opened it up to the public for this week to come get the wood for their personal use. Lots of people up here in Montana heat with wood as their primary wood source. The pine beetles are ruining the beautiful forests up here and the dead trees are cut down.
The weekend was rather cool but we had several visitors and a lot of free wood was burned.

Well this is what we found when we got to the campground this year . After we digged through we waited a day so the snow could melt that is on the other side of the gate . On Wednesday (5/21/2014) we finally got into the campground and set up in the Host spot . We even had a camper that night too. Then we got started on cleaning up the campground because on the 23 of May we had 17 reservations coming in . We made it all happen with the help of the Hosts from Piney campground . They are real nice folks too.
Yes the Moose are back in the campground too . This picture was taken over at Piney campground . I have not seen any Moose in the Philipsburg Bay campground but have been told that there is Moose here from one of the campers . They have been seen in the meadow behind site 44 & 45 . Also there are Bold Eagles playing around in the same area too.
