We took a drive out to the East Fork Resevoir last Monday evening.  A herd of elk had previously been spotted there.  We only saw snow rabbits and some deer.  However, our persistence paid off when e\we saw several small groups of Elk about a mile and a half from our campground on our way home!  There are certainly a lot of wilderness areas in Montana

This is a neat picture taken at Piney Campground when we were cutting up wood with Lon and Jan (Piney camphosts) and Chuck (concessionaire)  The moose in the background directly above Wayne's cap was not bothered by all the chainsaw noise!  It seems like our first couple of weeks are spent logging.

The Forest Service came in this last week and dropped a lot of trees along the road.  They have opened it up to the public for this week to come get the wood for their personal use.  Lots of people up here in Montana heat with wood as their primary wood source.  The pine beetles are ruining the beautiful forests up here and the dead trees are cut down.

The weekend was rather cool but we had several visitors and a lot of free wood was burned.
